My husband gave me a card, among other things, that ended with "With all my love, your husband." I have the best husband in the world, and I don't tell him that enough. It's hard to believe it's been four years since our wedding. We went to Vermont to take anniversary pictures to celebrate. Hopefully I can share them with you soon!

They say this is an old time-y pie, but I don't remember ever eating one. Perhaps I have once or twice, but they didn't stick in my memory.
But many people have told me it's their favorite pie. Since my in-laws had rhubarb growing in their suburban garden, I figure this is a good opportunity to try baking one myself.

I forget that it's not normal that dishes are left undone, and meals are hastily prepared, and the bathroom is left dusty. Bill's been filling in as I run from work to school to yoga. It's the kind of life I tried to avoid ever since I graduated from college.

What better time than the Fourth of July?
Surprisingly, the Internet has very few recipes with just strawberry and blueberry to offer. So I adapted this three berry pie recipe from one of the most dependable recipe blogs: JoyOfBaking, with 2 cups of blueberries and 3 cups of halved strawberries.
The lemon/sugar mixture is a dry mixture.

Okay, let me try to catch up here. This month is going by so quickly. Since our trip to Maine, we went to Connecticut and attended a beautiful wedding. We were just as busy when we lived in Alaska, but we couldn't travel to different states just for a weekend!

There were business trips and family gatherings. I also delivered my first cupcake order! But there's just not enough time in the day for writing posts. Taking a break. In Steuben, Maine.
See you back here soon!

The manual kneading method using a bread bowl is perfect for this recipe. I added some olives as suggested for more flavor. Just add the olives in to the yeast mixture before adding flour.

Of course, it's the weekend, so right off the bat, every meal is better than a weekday meal. This weekend, however, we made some extra decadent french toast with the leftover Hawaiian bread. The recipe is almost too rich. We tried to scale it back. Be forewarned, too much delicious french toast in your mouth may result in an upset stomach.

We were offered unlimited Hawaiian bread at one bed and breakfast. (I'm pretty sure Bill booked this place specifically for this feature.) There were three different types! From left to right: regular, guava, and taro. They were so colorful and delicious.
